GIJN seeks editorial assistant [Africa]

Investigative journalists based in any French-speaking country in Sub-Saharan Africa can apply.

The Global Investigative Journalism Network seeks a four-month, part-time editorial assistant for GIJN Afrique.

Responsibilities include: working on an editorial guide for the region; aggregating, writing, and posting daily on the organization’s social media; assisting in the copy and production of French newsletters; and expanding the online reach of GIJN to journalism and related communities.

Applicants should have at least two years of demonstrated work in a newsroom or journalism-related organization and a solid understanding of investigative journalism and knowledge of journalism in Africa. Experience and skill with social media is highly desirable.

Excellent French writing and editing skills with fluent command of English are a must. Knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, and Canva is a plus.
