Mobile film festival
Deadline: February 10, 2022
The Mobile Filmmaker’s International Festival is accepting entries from professional and amateur filmmakers. Films must be no more than one hour long, and be in English or have English subtitles.
Reuters journalism fellowship
Deadline: February 14, 2022
Mid-career journalists can apply for the Journalist Fellowship program, created by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Fellows research a subject of their choice under the supervision of an academic specializing in that area at Oxford University. Applicants must have strong English skills.

Press freedom contest
Deadline: February 15, 2022
The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize is seeking nominations. Journalists, organizations and institutions that promote press freedom are eligible. Winners will receive a US$25,000 award and be recognized during the World Press Freedom Day ceremony in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
Science journalism grants
Deadline: February 21, 2022
Journalists and freelance writers who cover science can submit their proposals for the Peggy Grishman Idea Grants, organized by the National Association of Science Writers (NASW). The NASW Grants committee provides funding up to US$15,000.
Conflict reporting fellowship
Deadline: February 22, 2022
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma is seeking mid-career journalists who want to deepen their knowledge on trauma and improve coverage of violence to apply for its fellowship at Columbia University. This program covers travel and accommodations in New York, meals and more.
Women’s photo competition
Deadline: February 24, 2022
Women photojournalists who report in dangerous environments can be nominated for the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award. The winner will receive a cash prize of US$20,000 and her work will be showcased publicly.
LGBTQ student journalists conference
Deadline: February 26, 2022
The Association of LGBTQ Journalists is hosting its annual student conference, which brings together more than 100 LGBTQ journalism students for networking sessions, informational breakouts and more.
Wildlife photo contest
Deadline: February 28, 2022
Photographers who capture wildlife can submit their work to Golden Turtle’s annual photo contest. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes.
