Women filmmakers ages 23 to 40 can apply to this free training on the artistic techniques of documentary filmmaking in Cairo, Egypt.

The Between Women Filmmakers’ Caravan is accepting applications for its Creative Documentary Workshop, an eight-month training on directing, editing, cinematography and production, with the aim of improving the skills and capacities of Egypt’s new women filmmakers.

Run by a group of women filmmakers and film curators, the Caravan is an independent initiative that seeks to strengthen an international network of women filmmakers from various regions of the world, especially in the Arab world, and which contributes to advancing towards gender equality and interculturality.

Through hands-on assignments, participants will be tutored by several Arab and international women film professionals on how to write, direct, shoot and edit creative documentaries.

The Caravan will fund the production of short creative documentary films that must be created by each participant as a graduation project.

The eight-month workshop starts on Dec. 18 and the five-hour sessions will run five days a week.

The application deadline is Nov. 18.
