Quebec-based journalists working (freelance or salaried) for Quebec-based media can apply for funding.

The Quebec Fund for International Journalism is launching a new call for applications. This organization finances reporting projects abroad by Quebec-based journalists working (freelance or salaried) for Quebec-based media.

In this call, the jury will award grants ranging from CAD500 to CAD6,000 , and up to CAD9,000 for teams, in the regular program, as well as a grant in the "First assignment abroad" program.

The CAD5,000 grant will be awarded to a journalist who has been practicing journalism for less than five years and who works primarily as a freelance journalist and is a member of the FPJQ or the AJIQ. Grantees will work with a mentor, either an active or retired journalist, who can guide them in the preparation, production and writing of their story.

The deadline for both grants is Aug. 15.
