The Washington Post Magazine calls for pitches [US]

Journalists in areas with limited access to comprehensive news that feeds democracy at grassroots level can apply.

The Washington Post Magazine is looking for journalists to contribute to a special issue about the diminished state of local and community news in the United States.

Possible topics include public safety, health, education, infrastructure, environment, economic conditions, culture and civic life, and politics and political life. A variety of story formats is eligible.

Selected works will be part of the fall 2021 issue of the Magazine. Journalists will be compensated at competitive magazine rates.

The deadline is May 21.
