Iran to establish international cartoon museum

Iran is to establish an international cartoon museum in the northern city of Tabriz, Azerbaijan province.

The former Tabriz National Library is being renovated to house the new museum. There will be two galleries, one permanent and one temporary.

The museum is scheduled to open in early March. The opening will be celebrated with an international exhibition entitled “Kings.”

The city of Tabriz is also the home of Iran’s largest cartoon association, the Tabriz Cartoon Association. The organization has over 500 members from all over Iran.

The association director, Rahim Baghal Asghari, praised the plans for the museum as well as stating that it will be one of the “greatest” cartoon museums in Asia and the Middle East.
