United Nations Correspondents Association Awards Deadline: September 1
Journalists who cover the United Nations, including its agencies and field operations, can enter to win an award from the United Nations Correspondents Association. Four categories are open: print (and online), broadcast, climate change and humanitarian/development. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will present more than US$60,000 in prizes to the winners at an awards ceremony in New York. For more information, click here.
Sustainable Arts Foundation awards Deadline: September 2
The Sustainable Arts Foundation is recognizing journalists who have at least one child under 18 years old with its awards. Beginning this year, at least half of the awards will go to applicants of color. Prizes range from US$2,000 to US$6,000. For more information, click here.
Bitch Media Fellowships for Writers Deadline: September 15
Writers worldwide with an interest in social justice and feminism can grow their portfolios with Bitch Media’s remote, three-month fellowship. Possible subjects include reproductive rights and justice, pop-culture criticism, technology and global feminism. Fellows receive a US$2,000 stipend. For more information, click here.
Film4Climate Global Video Competition Deadline: September 15
Connect4Climate’s Film4Climate competition is recognizing short videos on climate change from young filmmakers. The first, second and third place prizes in each category are US$8,000, US$5,000 and US$2,000, respectively. For more information, click here.
Radcliffe Institute fellowships Deadline: September 15
Journalists and film, video, sound and new media artists can apply for a fellowship to pursue advanced work across a wide range of subjects with the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University. Fellows receive stipends of up to US$75,000 for one year, with additional project funds available if needed. For more information, click here.
Fund for Investigative Journalism grants Deadline: September 26
The Fund for Investigative Journalism is offering grants to investigative journalists to pursue a story involving a U.S. angle. Proposals should aim to break new ground and expose wrongdoing in the public or private sectors. The average grant amount is US$5,000, which covers travel costs and other expenses. Dart Center Ochberg Fellowships Deadline: September 30
Midcareer journalists worldwide can improve their coverage of violence, conflict and tragedy through an all-expenses-paid fellowship with the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma in New York.
