Humanitarian reporting contest open [Brazil]

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Brazil invites entries to the fourth edition of the ICRC Humanitarian Coverage Award. The goal is to encourage the production of quality journalistic content on humanitarian issues in the Brazilian press.

Works must address international humanitarian issues, with a focus on victims, and have been published between Aug. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020.

In addition to the news reports and documentaries category, this year's competition will feature the special category "United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) 70 years," for news or documentary content focusing exclusively on themes related to refugees and statelessness.

The first place winner in the news reports and documentaries category will travel to an international location where the ICRC operates or receive a cash prize if travel is not recommended because of the pandemic. The second and third place winners will receive a cash prize. The winner in the special category will travel to a Brazilian region where the ICRC operates or receive a cash prize.

The deadline is Sept. 1.
