The Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for a New Iberoamerican Journalism (FNPI) organizes a workshop on profile writing May 13 to 16 in San José, Costa Rica.

New Yorker writer Jon Lee Anderson will teach participants how to write about subjects that shed light to a social process, a historical moment or a specific event. In addition, they will do reporting exercises and build scenes and scenarios.

Registration costs US$400. Three full scholarships and three partial scholarships will be awarded to candidates from Central American countries. Central American participants not living in Costa Rica will receive lodging and meals.

Applicants from outside Central America may apply but, if accepted, they must pay for their own expenses.

The deadline is April 1.
