Free course on climate change [Brazil]

Journalists based in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil can register for this free in-person course.

Marking one year since the Rio Grande do Sul floods, Reporters Without Borders, Nonada Jornalismo and Matinal Jornalismo are offering the course "Journalists for the Climate: how to report on climate change" for local journalists.

Five classes, taking place May 15-29, will address the societal implications of climate change, empathetic listening techniques for interviewing extreme climate events survivors, climate change fact-checking, and explanatory journalism tools.

There are 40 places available, with 30 percent of them reserved for Black, Indigenous and trans people.

At the end of the course, journalists will be invited to apply for five reporting microgrants. They will write a story about climate change in Rio Grande do Sul to be published by Nonada and Matinal.

The application deadline is April 30.
