Short video contest on environmental stories for young journalists [Southeast Asia]

Posted on 6 sept 2024 dans Environmental Reporting

Young and aspiring journalists in Southeast Asia can participate in this video contest.

Dialogue Earth, formerly China Dialogue, is partnering with Emmy-winning filmmaker and journalist Pailin Wedel to host its first Instagram video contest, "Reel Talk: Climate Stories of Southeast Asia".

Journalists and storytellers aged 18-25 are invited to create a short video of up to two minutes that showcases how climate change impacts their community or how local initiatives are addressing these challenges.

The video can be in the form of a documentary, narrative storytelling, explainer or field reporting.

Interested participants should centralize local stories and voices, and use data and interviews to support their reporting where possible. While submissions can be in any local language, all videos must provide English subtitles.

All five finalists will be invited to participate in a two-hour online group workshop led by Wedel, and receive a certificate of acknowledgement.

One overall winner will receive a US$200 equipment voucher to boost their multimedia journalism and their winning story will be showcased across Dialogue Earth’s social media platforms.

Submit by Oct. 31.
