Workshop for journalists covers internet regulation [Latin America]

Journalists living in Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia are eligible.

The Center for Studies on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information (CELE), in partnership with the Karisma Foundation and Artículo 19, launches the workshop "For a better regulation of the internet in Latin America." The workshop will be held in Bogota, Columbia on May 9 and 10.

Participants will be provided with tools to incorporate human rights issues related to digital media, such as freedom of expression, online censorship, content blocking, privacy, surveillance technologies, data exploitation, gender-based violence, and more, into their professional work.

Fifteen journalists will be accepted. There are five scholarships for applicants living in Colombia and another five for applicants living in other countries. Transportation, lodging and travel expenses will be covered.

The deadline is March 25.
