PEN America offers Emerging Voices Fellowship [US]

Publicado en Jan 3, 2024 en Diversity and Inclusion

Early-careers writers who are underrepresented in the publishing world can apply for a virtual five-month fellowship.

PEN America is offering the Emerging Voices Fellowship. The program is committed to cultivating the careers of Black writers and serves writers who identify as Indigenous, persons of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, writers with disabilities, and those living outside of urban centers.

The fellowship nurtures creative community, provides a professional skill-set and demystifies the path to publication—with the ultimate goal of diversifying the publishing and media industries.

In addition, the fellowship provides one-on-one mentorship and introductions to editors, agents and publishers. Fellows will also engage in workshops on editing, marketing and creating a platform.

Twelve fellows will be selected and will receive a US$1,500 stipend.

The application fee is US$25.

The application deadline is Jan. 31.
