Journalists of color based in the U.S. with less than seven years of professional experience can apply for a fellowship.

The National Press Foundation (NPF) is hosting its Widening the Pipeline Fellowship, which is designed to help confront the common lament that “it’s hard to find qualified journalists of color.”

Up to 25 young journalists will be recruited for a 12-month fellowship in the leadership, in-depth reporting, data and multimedia skills they need to hold governments and corporations accountable and to advance in their newsrooms.

The program will begin with an online orientation in January 2024 and virtual training sessions will be held every four to six weeks. Two in-person trainings in Washington, D.C. will be held in February and December 2024.

The foundation will cover airfare, hotel, transportation to the airport and most meals for the two in-person trainings in Washington, D.C.

The deadline is Nov. 5.
