Born and Raised in Maryland, Terrance Smith received his Journalism degree from Morgan State University in the spring of 2017. Smith was involved in The MSU Spokesman, Morgan State’s student-run newspaper. There he honed his journalism skills while reporting and covering events on MSU’s campus. Smith served as President of Morgan State’s chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) during the 2016-2017 academic year. In 2017 MSU received Student Chapter of the Year Honors at the NABJ Convention in New Orleans.
Previously Smith was an intern at the Baltimore Afro-American, an International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Back in the Newsroom Fellow at USA Today, a Pulliam Fellow at the Arizona Republic/AZCentral.com and an intern at IJNet.
Smith currently works at NBC News in a full-time, entry-level position that he landed with help from ICFJ's workforce program.
