Looking to expand your journalism toolkit, take on a new beat or receive recognition for your work? Check out these promising courses, fellowships and competitions with deadlines in February. Each is open to journalists worldwide.

Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) fellowships Deadline: February 1, 2015

The institute offers residential, nonresidential and institutional fellowships. Residential fellows spend eight months on the Missouri campus, taking advantage of the intellectual and technological resources of RJI and the university while interacting with Missouri faculty and students. These fellows receive a US$10,000 monthly stipend, plus a one-time US$10,000 housing allowance. For more information, click here.

World Bank #EachDayISee Deadline: February 13, 2015

The World Bank is inviting entries to the #EachDayISee contest on Instagram to help draw attention to the myriad of problems facing communities all around the world. The 20 photos with the most likes on their Instagram photos will be selected as finalists. Finalists will be featured on World Bank social media, projected at the World Bank headquarters in Washington and included in a photo book. For more information, click here.

International Reporting Project Deadline: February 16, 2015

Innovative journalists, bloggers, influential social media practitioners and other media professionals can apply for a two-week reporting trip to Nepal. Johns Hopkins University’s International Reporting Project will conduct the reporting trip April 25 to May 7. The trip will focus on health and development in Nepal. The IRP will cover roundtrip airfare, visa fees, hotel costs, meals and local transportation costs. For more information, click here.

Knight International Journalism Awards Deadline: February 20, 2015

The International Center for Journalists seeks nominations for the Knight International Journalism Awards. The awards are designed to honor journalists who have, through pioneering work or technological innovation, produced quality news and information that has made a significant impact on the lives of people in the developing world. The winners will be honored at ICFJ’s awards dinner on Nov. 10 in Washington. Global business journalism scholarships at Tsinghua University Deadline: February 28, 2015

English-speaking journalists worldwide can apply for a global journalism program in China. The School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University offers a master of arts degree in global business journalism designed to bring business journalism in China in line with top international reporting standards.
