Chevening Scholarships Deadline: November 8

Journalists from any country who show leadership potential can study at any U.K. university through this scholarship. Offered by the U.K.'s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Chevening Scholarships offer full or partial funding for a postgraduate degree, usually a one-year master’s degree. TEDGlobal fellowships Deadline: November 13

The TED Fellows program is bringing media entrepreneurs, human rights activists and photographers to Arusha, Tanzania for the TEDGlobal conference in August 2017. Fund for Environmental Journalism grants Deadline: November 15

Journalists hoping to report on environmental stories in North America can get up to US$5,000 in financial support from the Society of Environmental Journalists. Proposed projects should focus on the politics and economics of renewable energy in the United States; or biodiversity conservation and climate change in North America. Thomson Reuters’ Editorial Trainee Program Deadline: November 15

Draper Hills Summer Fellowship on Democracy and Development Deadline: November 16

The Draper Hills fellowship is seeking journalists involved in their country’s economic and political development to spend three weeks at Stanford University next summer. Smithsonian magazine photo contest Deadline: November 30

Photographers and photojournalists can enter their work to Smithsonian magazine’s annual photo contest. This year’s categories are the natural world, travel, people, the American experience, altered images, mobile photos and sustainable travel, which is open to U.S. residents only. New Media Writing Prize Deadline: November 30; December 16

The Media School at Bournemouth University’s New Media Writing Prize is open to students, bloggers, artists and writers who tell stories in innovative new ways. The top prize is GBP1,000 (US$1,298), and the student winner will receive a three-month work placement at the e-learning company Unicorn Training in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. CUNY business journalism fellowship Deadline: November 30

Experienced journalists can apply for a fellowship with the McGraw Center for Business Journalism at the City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism.
