Business journalism program in China

Deadline: April 1, 2021

The School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University offers a master of arts degree in global business journalism. The two-year program, a partnership between Tsinghua, the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Bloomberg News, is fully taught in English and some scholarships are available. Fellowships support stories from the Global South

Deadline: April 7, 2021

The One World Media seeks proposals for its fellowship, which supports journalists and filmmakers interested in telling stories about the Global South. Twenty fellows will be selected this year, including 10 applicants anywhere in the world and 10 from across Africa. Learn more here.

Contest honors educators, pandemic news for children

The Global Youth & News Media is accepting entries for two separate awards: the Journalism Award and the News/Media Literacy Award for a Press Freedom Teacher. Learn more here.  

Residency program to work on long-form projects

Journalists and visual artists can apply for the MacDowell Colony. Selected participants will spend up to eight weeks in Peterborough, New Hampshire to work on long-form projects. Learn more here

Competition recognizes development reporting

Deadline: April 18, 2021

The Lorenzo Natali Journalism Prize, sponsored by the European Commission, recognizes excellence in written, radio and broadcast journalism on the theme of development, democracy and human rights around the world. Winners in each category will receive EUR10,000. Learn more here

Film festival on life with disabilities

Deadline: April 20, 2021

Filmmakers from around the world can submit documentaries to The Belgrade International Film Festival "BOSIFEST 2021," which is for and by people with disabilities. Submit a documentary up to 100 minutes long in English or with English/Serbian subtitles for a chance to attend the festival in October. Learn more here. 

Fund to support women and non-binary creatives

Deadline: April 22, 2021

Photographers, visual journalists, videographers, illustrators, 3D artists and writers can apply for The Create Fund from Shutterstock. The initiative is accepting projects under the theme "Through Their Eyes," which celebrates the perspective of women and non-binary creatives with grants up to US$5,000. Learn more here
