Society of Environmental Journalists awards Deadline: April 1
The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is accepting entries for its annual awards, which recognize outstanding environmental reporting. Categories include outstanding feature story, outstanding in-depth reporting, outstanding photography and best environmental book. National Endowment for Democracy grants Deadline: April 7
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is offering grants to independent media, civic groups and other associations for projects that advance democracy around the globe. Project proposals should aim to promote and defend human rights and the rule of law, support freedom of information and independent media or promote accountability and transparency. Data Journalism Awards Deadline: April 7
Each year, the the Global Editors Network (GEN) honors the world’s best data journalism at its Data Journalism Awards ceremony in Vienna. Categories include data visualization, investigation, news data app and more. Ten winners will each receive a US$1,801 prize. For more information, click here.
Journalism 360° Challenge Deadline: April 10
Can 360° technology be used to engage audiences and advance journalism? The Knight Foundation is seeking to answer this question with the Journalism 360° Challenge. The Foundation is especially seeking projects that will yield lessons and “how-tos” for the journalism field and encourage journalists to think differently. The Leica Oskar Barnack Award Deadline: April 10
Photographers worldwide can enter to win up to EUR25,000 (US$26,618) and other prizes in this year’s Leica Oskar Barnack Award. Entries should depict the relationship between humans and the environment in a sequence of 10 to 12 images. For more information, click here.
Open City Documentary Festival Deadline: April 13

Each year, the International Photography Awards (IPA) allows photographers of all skill levels to win recognition for their work.
