Workshop on covering net zero transition [South Africa]

Posted on Oct 24, 2022 in Environmental Reporting

South African journalists interested in covering the country’s transition to net zero can attend a workshop.

Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is hosting a media workshop on covering pathways to net zero. This three-day workshop will help journalists improve their understanding of net zero and learn how to report more effectively on their county’s policies and actions to meet its climate goals.

The workshop will be held in Johannesburg, Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2023.

Selected participants will engage in a combination of classroom-style study and go on a field visit to a decommissioned power plant. The journalists will have the opportunity to learn from thematic experts and hear from affected communities.

Participants will also engage in hands-on capacity-building sessions to develop their journalism skills.

The workshop is free and EJN will cover travel, accommodation and meal costs for selected participants.

The application deadline is Nov. 27.
