Women journalists eligible for Gender, AI Reporting Fellowship [Kenya]

Posted on Jul 30, 2025 in Representation

Women journalists based in Kenya are eligible for a four-month fellowship.

The African Women Journalism Project (AWJP), in partnership with DW Akademie, is offering the Gender + AI Fellowship. The program focuses on the intersection of AI and gender, exploring how emerging technologies impact women and gender-diverse communities in Kenya.

The program will equip journalists with the tools and knowledge on how to use AI as a tool to enhance their reporting—analyzing large datasets, uncovering hidden patterns, detecting bias and amplifying underrepresented voices in the stories they tell.

Fellows will receive microgrants for story production, access to selected AI tools, mentorship from leading Kenyan and international journalists, and more.

The fellowship will be held from October 2025 to February 2026.

The deadline is Aug. 20.
