University of Sydney's Sydney Southeast Asia Centre is hosting a webinar on the vital role of technology and media infrastructure in reducing communities' vulnerability to disaster in the Philippines on Nov. 24.

In the virtual talk, Dr Shelley Tuazon Guyton at the National University of Singapore will show how technologies and infrastructures for disaster communication that are meant to save can actually impede peoples’ ability to survive the disaster. She will draw on her fieldwork conducted three years after Typhoon Haiyan and share insights into the affected community's experiences navigating disaster information.
