Latin American journalists with three to ten years of experience covering science topics can apply for training in Spanish.

The Gabo Foundation and the Serrapilheira Institute, with the support of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in Latin America and the Caribbean, are hosting the virtual workshop "Immersion in science journalism: a method to distrust," Sept. 21 to Oct. 14.

The aim of the training is to promote and strengthen the capacities of journalists to cover science topics in the region. Instructor Pablo Correa Torres will teach participants how to translate scientific languages, which are the most appropriate genres for science storytelling, and more.

At the end of the workshop, participants will receive a US$2,500 grant to produce a science story.

The deadline is Sept. 5.
