Early-career journalists interested in reporting on rural communities in the West can apply for a fellowship.
High Country News is offering the Virginia Spencer Davis Fellowship. The program will provide on-the-ground reporting opportunities and a chance to dive deep into important stories, as well as professional mentorship and career development.
Fellow will aim to publish approximately 24 bylined stories over the course of the fellowship. Stories will include a mix of news/fast-moving short-form content, as well as more in-depth enterprising work.
The fellowship begins July 10 and will continue until June 28, 2024.
Fellows will receive a US$1,281.27 stipend, a US$100 per month work-from-home allowance and a US$500 signing bonus to help defray the cost of IT equipment.
This remote fellowship is open to candidates residing in Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington or Wyoming.
The deadline is April 21.
