Australian science journalists can apply for this journalist in residence program in Brisbane to learn more about the latest research on molecular bioscience.

The University of Queensland's Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), in collaboration with the Science Journalists Association of Australia (SJAA), is offering a paid science journalist-in-residence (SJiR) program for a working journalist who focuses on science, health, technology and environment reporting.

The successful applicant can stay for three months (or up to a maximum of four months) to engage with IMB's scientists and gain insight into their research.

The SJiR will receive funding of AUD7000 per month for four months or AUD9300 per month for three months. A maximum of AUD2,700 will be provided for domestic travel expenses to and from Brisbane for the stay and for initial short-term accommodation costs.

The residency must be completed between January 31 and May 31, 2025.

Apply by Nov. 24.
