Journalists interested in covering transgender issues at the local or state level can apply for grants.
Poynter, with support from the Gill Foundation, is accepting applications for the Transgender Coverage Reporting Grant.
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must have attended or watched both of Poynter’s Beat Academy Transgender Coverage webinars. If you haven't attended or watched both sessions, please enroll in the course.
In addition, applicants must have a crisp story pitch, a clear reporting plan and evidence that they have the skill to deliver their stories. Projects on all platforms — online, radio, video, print — are eligible.
Three grants ranging from US$10,000 to US$15,000 will be awarded.
The deadline is May 3.
