Print and online journalism professionals, publishers and owners can be nominated for an award.
The South African National Editors Forum (SANEF) is calling for nominations for the 2024 Nat Nakasa Awards for Courageous Journalism. The competition offers two awards: the Nat Nakasa Award for Media Integrity and the Nat Nakasa Award for Community Media.
Nominees must have demonstrated integrity and reported fearlessly; displayed a commitment to serve the people of South Africa; tenaciously striven to maintain a publication or other medium despite insurmountable obstacles; resisted any censorship; and/or shown courage in making information available to the South African public.
The winner of Award for Media Integrity will receive ZAR20,000 and a certificate.
The winner will be announced at the Nat Nakasa Awards ceremony on Sept. 14 in Durban.
The deadline is June 30.
