Journalists covering the pandemic are invited participate in this four-week course in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, through its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), hosts the free course “Journalism in a pandemic: Covering COVID-19 now and in the future” May 4 to 31.
The course is divided into four modules covering: past history of pandemics, the unfolding of the 2020 pandemic in its first four months, treatments for COVID-19 and the way forward.
The main instructor is Maryn McKenna, an independent journalist who specializes in public health, global health and food policy, who is also a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Human Health at Emory University
The course is accessible to anyone with an internet connection. It is offered in partnership with UNESCO and the World Health Organization (WHO), with support from the Knight Foundation and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
