Journalism fellowship on poverty available [US]

Journalists and journalism students can apply for this reporting grant.

The Marguerite Casey Foundation awards a fellowship and scholarship to increase the public’s understanding of poverty in the United States. 

Fellows and scholars selected will write at least one in-depth story or a short series that helps the public and policymakers understand how families are working for solutions and equity.

The program is particularly interested in stories about poverty, families and solutions (such as policy, community and grassroots) in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee and Texas.

Journalists will receive a stipend of US$4,000, plus up to US$1,000 in travel reimbursement. Students will receive US$2,000 and up to US$1,000 for travel. 

The deadline is Sept. 25.
