Posted on Mar 19, 2024 in Representation

Indigenous journalists and Indigenous-led teams may apply for funding for reporting projects.

The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) offers the Fund for Indigenous Journalists: Reporting on Missing & Murdered Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, Transgender People (MMIWG2T).

The fund supports Indigenous journalists’ reporting on violence that targets members of Indigenous nations, both on sovereign ground and in urban settings in the U.S.

The fund will prioritize funding for U.S.-based, in-depth reporting projects that go beyond breaking news and explore the underlying factors of the issue of violence against Indigenous people and the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous people with a focus on women, girls, two-spirit, and transgender people.

All applications must include a proposal, a detailed preliminary budget and timeline.

Grants up to US$5,000 will be awarded.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
