Health and Environmental Journalism Fellowship seeks applications [Middle East]

Journalists interested in covering health and environmental issues can apply for this fellowship in Jordan.

7iber, a media organization and online magazine that aims to promote an open society grounded in the values of accountability, rule of law, human rights and pluralism, through in-depth multimedia journalism and public conversation, is seeking applications for its In-Depth Health and Environmental Journalism Fellowship.

This program will take place April 2025 to June 2026, and includes reading sessions, discussions and analysis of diverse journalistic texts. Participants will also attend workshops to learn basic and advanced journalism skills such as writing, storytelling and integrating AI tools in journalism. The program also includes a three-month internship.

Each fellow will produce at least two articles for Hiber’s website, under the guidance of the editorial team. 

Successful candidates should be from diverse academic and professional backgrounds related to health and/or the environment, including environmental sciences, environmental economics, public health, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, environmental engineering, biology, agriculture, water sciences, climate sciences, nutrition and related fields.

Applicants must reside in Jordan and commit to attending workshops and editorial meetings at 7iber’s Amman office, in addition to participating in fieldwork.

The deadline for applications is March 2.
