Journalism educators can apply for a grant to research a timely and innovative topic in mass communication.

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) offers the Emerging Scholars Program and Senior Scholars Grants. The organization will award up to four US$3,500 research and teaching grants to AEJMC members, in addition to up to two US$5,000 grants to senior scholars.

The Emerging Scholars Program seeks junior faculty members without tenure or media professionals who recently began full-time work at a university. Each scholar will be paired with a mentor to provide guidance throughout the project.

The Senior Scholars Grants aim to recognize typically tenured scholars who seek to engage in extended research projects.

AEJMC will showcase initial results from the 2024 grants during a session at its 2024 conference in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to the grant, scholars will receive a stipend to assist with travel expenses to the conference.

The deadline is Oct. 1 for the Senior Scholar Grants and the Emerging Scholars Program.
