Journalists based in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru can apply for these grants.
Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), is offering story grants to journalists to produce stories on transnational conservation crimes in the Amazon and the threats faced by Indigenous peoples and local communities.
Story proposals can take a regional perspective and focus on the transnational nature of the illegal environmental activities held in the region, or adopt a solutions approach to highlight current efforts to counter environmental crimes.
EJN will provide up to 40 grants of US$1,500 to US$ 2,000 each.
Journalists based in the Amazon region of the selected countries will be given preference.
The application deadline is Jan. 27.
