Grants available for regional journalism workshops [Sub-Saharan Africa]

Nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and institutions with experience in Sub-Saharan Africa can apply for this program.

The Africa Regional Services in the Bureau of African Affairs of the U.S. Department of State will sponsor an organization that will provide digital education to African journalists.

The program seeks to promote improved knowledge of newsgathering strategies, media ethics, journalist safety, investigative reporting, and the business of journalism. 

The award recipient must organize three conferences in French, Portuguese and English and engage at least two different American journalists as presenters .

Awards may range from US$200,000 to US$400,000 for a period of 12 to 18 months.

The deadline is Aug. 25.
