Media outlets in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe can apply for grants to fund innovative media projects.

The South African Media Innovation Program (SAMIP) is a multi-year initiative to accelerate digital innovation among independent media outlets in South Africa through technical support, capacity building and grant funding.  The SAMIP will admit up to five new projects, providing grants of US$5,000 to US$15,000 per media organization, as well as capacity building and technical assistance.

Grants fund projects that develop new approaches to reporting and storytelling that embrace the possibilities of technology.  Also, projects creating new sources of revenue that can support media sustainability and independence are eligible for funding.

The deadline is July 31.
