Grants available for journalists affected by Los Angeles fires [US]

Journalists covering and/or affected by the January wildfires in the Los Angeles area are eligible for grants.

The United States Journalism Emergency Fund, offered by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), is accepting applications for the 2025 Los Angeles Fires Emergency Response. This initiative provides grants to journalists affected by recent wildfires in the Los Angeles.

Journalists can use the grants to cover emergency housing assistance and basic living necessities; immediate needs related to their professional work, such as destroyed equipment or protective gear (PPE); medical or psychological care (trauma support, therapy sessions, etc.) for incidents directly related to the wildfires.

Journalists will receive one-time grants of up to US$1,500.

Applicants must provide proof of their financial need.
