Posted on Oct 8, 2019 in Digital Journalism

Journalists and journalism students from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia are invited to apply to this program.

The International Center for Journalists and its IJNet Arabic platform are teaming up with Google News Initiative on a large-scale effort to strengthen the digital know-how of thousands of journalists across the MENA region.

IJNet Arabic digital media trainers will conduct 12 online webinars for journalists to increase the number of local professionals trained on Google News Initiative tools and best practices. Webinars will be held throughout October 2019. Find out when webinars will take place in your country here.

Additional details, including exact times will be sent to those who sign up.

Webinar topics include the most effective ways to gather and source information, enhancing trust and verification, using data for stories and apps, and embracing immersive storytelling.

The most promising journalist who participates in the October webinars, under phase four of this program, will be selected to participate in phase five: a three-week newsroom embed with the IJNet team in Washington.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. You will need to sign up at least three days ahead of your country’s webinar date.
