Education beat reporters in the United States can apply for a fellowship with a US$5,000 to US$10,000 stipend.

The Institute for Citizens and Scholars, with sponsorship from the ECMC Foundation, is offering the Higher Education Media Fellowship. The program aims to increase the number of journalists with the tools and networks to provide richer and more comprehensive coverage of postsecondary education, particularly career and technical education.

The six-month, non-residential program begins with an expense-paid postsecondary career and technical education symposium. Following the symposium, fellows must complete a reporting project, such as a special report or series.

Fellows will receive US$5,000 toward the reporting project.

The application deadline is Aug. 5.
