Posted on Feb 8, 2021 in Specialized Topics

Journalists who want to investigate how corporations are contributing to the increase in socio-environmental problems during the pandemic can apply for a reporting grant.

O Joio e o Trigo, with support from the Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection (Idec, in Portuguese), is offering two reporting grants on agribusiness and the environment amidst COVID-19.

The BRL6,500 grants are intended for pitches covering issues such as deforestation in indigenous lands, invasion of public lands, the corporate lobby to weaken public policies, among other topics.

Grantees will also receive editorial guidance.

Candidates who belong to underrepresented gender and ethnic-racial groups in Brazil are encouraged to apply.

The deadline is Feb. 26.
