Journalists with at least three years of experience who covered refugee/migration issues can apply for this training.
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project of the Columbia Journalism School, will host the workshop "Reporting on refugees and migration through the eyes of children" Sept. 22 to 29 in New York.
The workshop will bring journalists together with policy experts, scientists and practitioners working on early childhood development in a refugee context, to discuss the effects of trauma and effective interventions designed to mitigate harmful effects. The program will also include journalist-to-journalist discussions of craft, ethics and best practices for telling compelling stories about this vulnerable population.
Twenty-five journalists from around the world will be selected to participate. English fluency is required.
Participants will receive roundtrip travel, hotel lodging, ground transportation and most meals.
The deadline is June 7.
