Syrian journalists worldwide can apply for this competition.
On the occasion of International Day for Countering Hate Speech, Sot Sy seeks applications for the fifth edition of the “100 Syrian Voices Against Hate Speech” competition.
The competition seeks written articles of all kinds (report, investigation, article, study, etc.). The article should not exceed 3,000 words.
Each competitor is entitled to only one article, provided that the entire article has not been previously published in any medium, including social media.
The awards in this round are divided into two categories. The Main Awards are open to all Arab nationals — including Syrians, foreigners and stateless individuals born to a Syrian mother — regardless of their prior experience or current place of residence. The New Voices Awards are exclusively available to Syrian nationals and those with equivalent status, targeting media students (whether studying inside or outside Syria) and early-career journalists with three years or less of professional experience.
The winning articles receive cash prizes: EUR500 for first place, EUR300 for second place, and EUR200 for third place. Moreover, the articles will be published on Sot Sy with a summary of the jury's comments.
The deadline for applications is Aug. 14.
