Code for Africa (CfA) is recruiting a full-time editorial assistant in West Africa to help coordinate the pan-African PesaCheck team. PesaCheck is the largest indigenous fact-checking initiative on the continent, with teams in 12 African countries, and is incubated by Code for Africa.
Alongside more than 20 fact-checkers, the editorial assistant will help identify stories and trends to check on social media and mainstream outlets.
Candidates must have at least two years of journalism or research experience in a newsroom and have strong research skills. Fluency in English or French is required, as well as fluency in one or more local languages.
Experience with WordPress, social media, and/or social media tools for analysis/debunking/verification, e.g. TinEye, InVid, WayBack Machine is a plus.
