Writers and photographers, 35 and under, from member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) can compete for cash prizes.

The Caribbean Climate Justice Project, in partnership with the Caribbean Regional Youth Council (CRYC), with funding support from the Open Society Foundation, launched several competitions focused on climate change.  Applicants can compete in the prose, poetry and photography competitions.

Submissions to the prose competition must cover one of 14 topics relating to climate change in the Caribbean.  Submissions to the poetry competition should reflect the impact of climate change on the region.

Photos submitted to the photography competition must be original and accompanied with an explanation of the photo’s depiction of a climate change theme.

The winning prose and poetry submissions will receive US$500 and the winning photos US$350.

The winning submissions for each competition will be published in a book entitled ‘Caribbean Youth Perspectives on Climate Change,’ which will be launched for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland in November.

The deadline for the competitions is Aug. 20.
