Climate Beacon Newsroom Initiative open [US]

Posted on Sep 29, 2022 in Environmental Reporting

All U.S.- based newsrooms interested in reporting on solutions to the climate crisis can apply.

The Solutions Journalism Network, in partnership with Covering Climate Now and Climate Central, is launching the Climate Beacon Newsroom Initiative. This yearlong virtual program will bring together five newsrooms in the U.S. to work individually and collectively to transform their coverage of the changing climate throughout their organizations.

The program requires each newsroom to select a climate fellow to take part in the Solutions Journalism Network Train-the-Trainers program (ToT). These five fellows will each create a climate solutions journalism training module that they will use to spread the practice of solutions journalism in covering the changing climate.

Climate fellows will each receive a US$5,000 stipend for their work. Each newsroom will receive a US$20,000 stipend.

The application deadline is Oct. 10.
