Aspiring First Nations, Inuit or Métis journalists are eligible for a nine-month program.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) offers its Indigenous Pathways to Journalism program. This paid, full-time program supports seven Indigenous candidates, allowing them to hone their skills as storytellers in CBC newsrooms.
Participants will develop skills and tools for advancing a career in journalism; explore multi-platform storytelling through writing, images and sound; create stories that connect with Indigenous audiences and reflect diverse perspectives; grow relationships with, and be supported by, mentors, trainers, peers, and Indigenous CBC colleagues; and work in journalism, gaining valuable professional experience.
Each successful candidate will be based in a host location: Calgary, Yellowknife, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, Montreal, Halifax and Vancouver.
Interested candidates without journalism education or experience can also apply.
The deadline is June 21.
