Journalists and journalism students in West and Central Africa are eligible for awards up to US$1,250 for stories on migration.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is accepting entries for the 2021 West and Central Africa Migration Journalism Award. The competition fosters quality reporting on migration subject-matters including environmental migration, migrant reintegration, awareness raising about irregular migration and alternatives to irregular migration in the region.
Journalistic stories submitted must have been published in print, radio, television or online media between Sept. 1, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021.
In addition to the cash prize, winning journalists will also receive a plaque of recognition and will be invited to a virtual awards ceremony that will be broadcast on IOM’s social media platforms.
The deadline to submit entries is Oct. 15.
