Journalists based in the United States working in any media format or platform can compete for cash prizes.

The National Press Foundation (NPF) is accepting entries for The AARP Award for Excellence in Journalism on Aging. The award, sponsored by AARP, seeks to encourage journalists to cover the challenges and opportunities for people and society in the face of significant demographic trends.

Entries could range from well-crafted features to investigative journalism to coverage of how individuals and society are adapting to trends related to aging, including but not limited to health, caregiving, financial security, and more.

Entries published or broadcast from Oct. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2023 are eligible for submission. The entry fee is US$20.

The award carries two US$5,000 prizes, one for work appearing in a large media outlet and one for work appearing in a small or regional outlet.

The deadline is Oct. 16.
