Journalists and small teams with ideas for new local news organizations can apply for an 18-month incubator.
The American Journalism Project (AJP), with support from the Google News Initiative, is offering a local news incubator. The program intends to support entrepreneurs who want to explore launching a new nonprofit local news organization to serve their communities.
Up to four individuals or pairs will be selected and will receive a US$400,000 grant to pursue their news startups.
AJP will also provide grantees with expert counsel and support the launch of news startups with a solution to meet community needs.
The deadline is Feb. 15.
