Workshop covers investigative journalism [Latin America]

Journalists residing in Latin America can apply for this training.

The Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism and ForoCAP, with the support of Oxfam, organize the workshop "Periodismo de investigación en contextos desafiantes" (Investigative journalism in challenging contexts) May 14 to 17 in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Argentine journalist Hugo Alconada Mon will teach methodologies, techniques and the necessary tools to develop and finance short and long-term investigative projects. Other topics include journalism ethics and journalist's security.

Candidates must submit two investigative proposals. Fourteen journalists will be selected.

The course is free for Nicaragua residents. Selected candidates outside Nicaragua must pay a US$300 fee. Medical insurance, meals and US$100 for air tickets will be provided.

The deadline is April 10.
