Journalists interested in reporting on health issues such as yellow fever, malaria and reproductive health can check out a free monthly newsletter from the Uganda Health Alliance.
The Uganda Health Communication Alliance (UHCA) is a professional organization that brings together journalists and other communication professionals from non-government organizations, government and academia. UHCA’s main objectives are to train, empower and support journalists and public information specialists who disseminate health information.
The association's monthly newsletter, the Uganda Health Reporter, is sent to 500 health-care professionals and journalists and is available on the association's website. These newsletters are a great resource for journalists seeking to report on health issues such as yellow fever, malaria and reproductive health.
UHCA's website also provides useful links, opportunities and directories for Ugandan journalists.
The Uganda Health Communication Alliance was revived in part thanks to Knight International fellow Christopher Conte who led a project to improve coverage of health issues in Uganda. His fellowship ended in January 2011.
